Judgement Day

Image
This year, I’m sitting on the judging panel for the  Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)  Global Fintech Hackcelerator in the  Singapore FinTech Festival  again. This year, the theme is AI in Finance and there were so many impressive entries. To do justice to the entries, I not only read the proposals, but try to “test” the prototypes as well (where available). Interestingly, as I was doing my review, there was a nearby table where some folks were having a chat and one person was gushing about how AI has really helped his business become a lot faster and more efficient. Looks like AI’s effects are already onto us, not just in finance but spreading across many other use cases as well. Have you or your company started your journey yet? Do share. #ai   #artificialintelligence   #mas   #fintech   #data   #automation   #jenelim

What to consider when embarking on AI / ML journey

What are the areas of consideration when embarking on a AI / ML (artificial intelligence / machine learning) journey ? Check out this article by Binesh Balachandran. 🏆 Quick wins: Identify the right business area/problem to solve. 💻 Data Quality: A good AI solution is built on good data. ☁️ Platform: AI requires scalable computing power hence, adopting cloud technologies is key. 👬Capability: Continuously upskilling talent pool. #analytics   #artificialintelligence   #machinelearning   #data   #ai   #ml   #experian   #jenetalksaboutdata

Age of AI

I brought my kid to the World Mathematics Invitational in Incheon. I was pleasantly surprised that their thinking and preparations for education on AI has already started.  In fact, the chairman mentioned that this speech was prepared using ChatGPT.  This is timely as LinkedIn today was abuzz with the recording of the world's first AI that can have long phone calls that sound very human. I think it’s important that education for the mass catches up quickly too so that we can use the time freed up to create more value.  #WMI2023 #AI #artificialintelligence

Banking and AI

“Banks here and abroad are turning to artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning as a game changer as they compete to win new customers, improve efficiencies, analyse complex risks and personalise interactions with clients and staff. This means integrating analytical AI systems across more operations, moving beyond just chatbots deployed 24/7 in the front office, or even anti-payment fraud and know-your-customer (KYC) regulatory checks in the middle office. Old operating systems are being replaced by more advanced AI and machine learning systems, a form of AI that enables computers to learn without being explicitly programmed.”  What I hope to do is to provide various traditional and alternative data points which can be used to be used in such models, to continue to value add to the banking ecosystem.  https://lnkd.in/gKMHu7rC  #AI #artificialintelligence #banking #ML #machinelearning #bank #automation

Run, don’t walk

I didn’t know much about Nvidia much till last week when its big increase in share price dominated the feed. Shares of Nvidia soared as much as 30% last Thursday, adding almost $200 billion to its market value after the company shared very high revenue guidance for its AI-powered GPU chips. This morning, I watched  this clip  below and realised that success didn’t come easy indeed. He had to make so many tough choices and strategic retreats to get here. It’s a must watch to get inspired by how one can break new ground and achieve greatness by having humility, perseverance and clarity of the company vision and purpose.  These are the extracts that inspired me the most: 🔙Retreat does not come easily to the brightest people, yet strategic retreat, sacrifice, and deciding what to give up is at the very core of success." 🏃‍♀️"Run don't walk. Either you're running for food, or you are running from being food: 1. Have the humility to confront failure and ask for help. 2. E...
