Scam websites

Apart from phishing emails and SMSes, now a new variant of scams is happening, targeting online shoppers who may be taken in by the websites which have similar looking domain names and even similar look and feel. 

Consumers have no choice for now but to endure increased friction, by clicking from parent website domain- country selector - Singapore to get to a real page, spend extra time checking legitimacy of domain names or risk falling prey to scams where 

💳 credit card details and other personal data may be compromised 
📦 goods might not be delivered 
🥸 goods delivered might be counterfeit 

As a consumer, here’s what you can do : 

✅ Avoid clicking on dubious links provided by unofficial sources. The authenticity of a link should always be verified with the official website or source.

✅To check if something is a scam, go to www.scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam Hotline on 1800-772-6688.
