As a junior college student, I didn’t know what degree to pursue in university. All I knew was I didn’t want to be a lawyer, doctor or engineer but I wanted to have good grounding in running businesses and have a professional degree. As such, I chose Accountancy.  📚When I joined Accountancy, I found the courses really holistic and interesting. Besides accounting, auditing and financial management, there were also courses like Law 101, Organisational Behaviour, Information Systems, Statistics, Communications etc which all came in handy when I started my career in Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) , Citi and now Experian Asia Pacific as we need to understand the drivers of balance sheet and P&L, know how to read financials and how to make better decisions using data and analytics. Apart from phishing emails and SMSes, now a new variant of scams is happening, targeting online shoppers who may be taken in by the websites which have similar looking domain names and even similar look and feel.  Consumers have no choice for now but to endure increased friction, by clicking from parent website domain- country selector - Singapore to get to a real page, spend extra time checking legitimacy of domain names or risk falling prey to scams where  💳 credit card details and other personal data may be compromised  📦 goods might not be delivered  🥸 goods delivered might be counterfeit  As a consumer, here’s what you can do :  ✅ Avoid clicking on dubious links provided by unofficial sources. I didn’t know much about Nvidia much till last week when its big increase in share price dominated the feed. Shares of Nvidia soared as much as 30% last Thursday, adding almost $200 billion to its market value after the company shared very high revenue guidance for its AI-powered GPU chips. This morning, I watched  this clip  below and realised that success didn’t come easy indeed. He had to make so many tough choices and strategic retreats to get here. “How are you so energised and motivated every day?” I was asked by a colleague.  Well, I think it’s because my Why is very clear. The work we do is actually very meaningful. When we launch new data products and services, we are actually helping companies find business, obtain funding from lenders, and get paid on time.
